It was forty years ago that we began our lives together. We have been blessed with one son (his witticisms make me laugh like no other). He is also a gifted artist. Beyond the three of us we have shared our home with five furry four paws (our cats Rosie, Smokey, Bandit, Cody and now Kylie). We are honored to have been and be their servants.
The years have been filled with the normal family activities to include cub scouts, artwork on the refrigerator door, school, graduations, celebrating the holidays with family and trips to the Ozarks.
We call Kansas our home. I've described the Midwest as a night of unlimited stars near a lake, mid-summer rains (the kind where you can smell the rain in the air) and rich and colorful autumn days. There is something to be said about seeing as far as the eye can see (if you can get your head above the corn).
This website has served as a journal of sorts for the past sixteen years. My wife, affectionately referred to as the 'Editor-In-Chief Of This Outfit' gives the approving eye for the sites content (well, actually she sees it the same time everyone else does). I'll get an approving nod, frown or raised eyebrow the next morning with each weeks picture and story.
"The two shall become one." I remember one time when I went to grab my toothbrush and was a little frustrated because she had just purchased two new in different colors. I didn't know which one was mine. She was asleep, and I didn't want to wake her. When I looked back down at the brushes I had my answer -- her brush was the pink one and mine was blue.
Pictured here is a decoration in the SDC Wilderness Church that best captures the years together -- simple, rustic and adorned with the richness of family and friends.
