Silver Dollar City

Honoring those

have served

Have a great Fourth of July

Most mornings (with few exceptions) Silver Dollar City opens the park by honoring those who have served in the military.  Veterans are asked to come forward to be recognized and serve, once more, on the color guard.  A 20 yard march to the pole, 'company halt', 'left face', 'attention', 'present arms'.  To the bugle call, the flag is raised and secured at the top. All are invited to join in the Pledge of Allegiance followed by the singing of the National Anthem.  For as many times as the SDC citizens perform this ceremonial task, I am certain there is a thankfulness for a break (a rainy day), save though for the remembrance of those who gave all, an ever-present reminder of our daily freedoms.

I am on my summer break.  A time to refresh and work on special projects and get out and take pictures.  If you are new to this site, please enjoy the past pictures by clicking on the 'Prior' icon in the upper right or the 'Archives' in the lower left.  Check back in the fall when I plan to resume the weekly pictures or something like it.
