TOO DIGITAL, TOO PAINTED

Most of what I enjoy doing with photography falls outside of an invitation to exhibit the work.  As a digital image it is not accepted in 'Paintings Only' shows (no digital images permitted) and too edited to enter 'Photography Exhibits' (images must depict the actual scene with only cropping, dust removal and reasonable exposure adjustments).  I've toyed with the idea of taking some of my pictures and attempt to learn how to paint.  I'm partial to watercolors but like the dimensional work of oils (two difficult styles of painting to learn).  Of course if I could do that, when I'm done with the painting -- I'd just take a picture of it.  I think I'll stay with photography.
