HUNKERED DOWN

It's not easy to find time to get out and take pictures when it's snowing. This pic from 2009 caught some Kansas bovine hunkered down around a hay bale during a winter snow.

I enjoy being outside in the snow with its quiet solitude. It is accompanied with the mind set to outwit winter with enough gear for warmth, food and drink. Although I can also say that it is also a time to be enjoyed inside.

"Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home."

- Edith Sitwell
