I can still remember taking my first picture with my Kodak Starmite camera and later seeing the developed prints. It was an excitement second only to Joseph Nicéphore Niépce's first picture about 1824 which was the very first photograph.

Pictured above is an old milk bottle in a wire basket that I found at the SDC Candle Shop. The short depth of field from the 50mm 1.4 lens separated the detail of the basket and milk bottle from the background. Layered across the picture is hand written text (a technique I saw at the Harvest Festival by one of the visiting photographers).

When I visit SDC it's not just for the music, shows, crafts and rides (although the only ride I get on is the Train Ride -- I will brave Outlaw Run next year) I have found it to be a place to be inspired. For me it is where my ideas flow freely and dreams take shape. The Ozark Mountain air has a way of adding clarity to your thinking. And while I'm doing all this thinking I enjoy looking for things to take pictures of.
