Out back behind the McHaffie's Homestead cabin at SDC is what's known as the Pickers Shed. I arrived a little late for the afternoon jam session and could not find one of those seats of hardwood (literally). I opted for a precarious sit on a split rail fence along the steps down to the shed. To my left was this stump with moss growing across the top. In and amongst the trees, a bit of sunlight lit its surface in a way that caught my attention. It was a display of quiet beauty.

Of course I messed with the background to create the bokeh effect.

"I love the man that can smile in trouble, that can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection. 'Tis the business of little minds to shrink, but he whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves his conduct, will pursue his principles unto death."

- Thomas Paine
