The first ingredient in the Schrock Family recipe for homemade apple butter is the 'The Patience of Job'.

There's nothing fast about making apple butter. There is the peeling of apples (too numerous to count) and hours of slow cooking and stirring the apples, cider, suger and cinnamon in the copper kettle. But it is also an occasion to gather together with family and friends in a harvest celebration.

Pictured above is John Schrock of the well known Schrock family. John and his wife Phyllis are a familiar site at Silver Dollar City's Craft Festival. For several years they have demonstrated the fine art of making apple butter and other apple recipes.

It just doesn't come any better!
